Custom Valve Stem Caps:

Star Wars Series - Death Star!

The Model

Thank you for visiting and checking out my Valve Stem Cap collection! Over the last couple of weeks I have kept myself busy making a variety of different valve stem caps (almost 60 different ones to be exact!) as I took inspiration from some really random every-day objects I encountered throughout my daily routine!

Some of these are very simple, quick to print models, while others (like Super Mario and the Nike Shoes in full color) take quite a bit of time and filament to print. I realize that these longer prints are quite a commitment and not likely to be printed a whole bunch, but I enjoyed the challenge to creating and coloring these and watching them complete overnight.

The multi-color prints make quite a bit of printer poop… so if you have found some sort of use for it, this is a great time to exercise it!

Application

One thing to be mindful of is that all of these current valve stem caps are intended for the Shrader valve design (common on cars). The Presta Valve design is different and will require to make a different print profile. See below for a quick and easy way to identify the type of valve you have:

Please note, all of my caps are for the Shrader valve, however, if you have a need for any of the valves to be done for the Presta Valve, please just drop me a comment/request and I can get it done. Honestly, I just ran out of steam after making 60 models but am certainly not opposed to making the Presta variations if the need is there!

Filament

One word of caution on the choice of filament.. yes, PLA is an obvious choice for cost and color availability, just pleased keep in mind that PLA is not the best choice for outdoor application due to its inability to withstand heat and UV long term. Don’t be surprised if you have deformed/miscolored caps after a good summer day of heat and sun. A lot of these are easy enough to reprint if you want to stick with PLA, otherwise, entertain the option of using something more outdoor friendly, like PETG.

original stl file by axelollars manipulated in Meshmixer to remove overhands to reduce supports. Separated the head from the body, cleaned up the mesh file and sliced it with a negative shrader thread file.

Thank you for visiting my page and taking the time to print my models. Your support is truly appreciated. I never expected to have so many people following me and fueling my passion for creating the models that I create!
