Bambu Lab H2D Magnetic Build Plate AR QR Code
Special Notes :
- NEW AR/QR Codes will be added as they are release by Bambu Lab
- While you can edit the config files for BambuStudio to force other options to appear, the change will be overridden on every slicer update and the printer will still not recognize them anyway
- There is no telling whether they will be the same code as the old, since the number of squares has since changed for the Smooth and Textured plates, or perhaps it is just a matter of firmware update to enable them to be recognized.
Bambu Lab seemingly is having a hard time keeping build plates in stock, and there are already many 3rd party build plates flooding the market, especially the more niche plates lined with materials other than PEI.
I have seen other models shared on MakerWorld that are similar, however many used older version AR/QR codes which is not compatible with the H2 series, also many were paper printed, low res and did not provide vector images, some also required a particular label printer.
I have designed a 3D printed version which you can reuse amongst different plates, especially 3rd party plates that have a similar front edge for handles which most do.
Magnets are not a requirement, it just ease with reusing them on different plates and not having to print a set for every plate and side, I used D6x1.4mm Round Magnets, it is what I had on hand, D6x2mm will also work just fine.
Update / Change Logs :
Added (2026-01-20): Added H2C specific print profile for Textured PEI, Engineering and Cold Plate Super Tack.
Added (2025-10-27): Added Engineering Plate and Cold Plate SuperTack code to both guide & guideless versions.
Added (2025-08-11): Added new 3MF for a flat, guideless version.
Updated (2025-08-11): Unified 3MF for the 2 magnets types used.
Updated (2025-08-11): Optimized positioning that caused some machines to not read the code. Thanks to @GrimmGrimms for his help in diagnosis.
Updated (2025-06-13): A version for D6x3mm has been added… however it will sit higher.
You can opt to use double sided tape, 3M 468MP is heat resistant, alternatively VHB will work just fine as well.
Printing them out of ABS/ASA or higher temp resistant materials is recommended, especially for the Smooth/Textured PEI plates, as they can be used for high temp materials, if you don't print high temp materials then the highest temp material that you personally use is also fine such as PETG. Even then it is likely they will soften when the build plate is hot, probably best to avoid bends, however if they are secured to the build plate, they will conform with the build plate as it heats and cools.
Since this is only specifically useful for the H2 series, it is best to simply print from the included print profile, with settings preconfigured and model oriented to give it the best chance of not lifting off the bed due to it's geometry. If you do print these out of ABS/ASA, it is highly recommended to set your bed temp to 115C, rather than using the stock setting of 100C within the filament settings.
THE MODEL HAS SINCE BEEN UPDATED TO ACCOUNT FOR THIS BUT THIS MESSAGE IS LEFT HERE AS A PRECAUTION.
If your printer has trouble reading the AR code, you can opt to try the version without the edge guide or simply cut off the guides. We have noticed that there are a slight difference in tolerance with regards to where the printer wants to read the code, without the guide you can experiment where best your printer likes to read.
