Description
Parametric Joint Grid for Clinker Brick Masonry
I ran into a problem when fitting a prefabricated insect screen into the mortar joints of my clinker-brick house: every “standard” grille was either too tight or left gaps that let wasps and mice through. To fix this once and for all, I created a simple OpenSCAD generator that turns your exact joint measurements into a perfect 3D-printed joint grille.
How it solves the problem:
Custom dimensions:
Enter your mortar-joint width, height, and depth—no more guessing or sanding.
Perforated grid:
Blocks insects, wasps, and small animals (like mice) while allowing airflow.
Optional lamellae:
Add inclined vanes to direct ventilation as needed.
3D-print ready:
Export an STL that snaps into place as a reliable butt joint ventilator.
Summary
If you’ve struggled with gaps or ill-fitting screens in your clinker brick masonry, this script adapts to your exact measurements, giving you a snug, problem-solving grille every time.
