Roll Hexfinity Pack 3: The X Files

Note: This is an expansion to the Roll Hexfinity System. You will need to also print the Roll Hexfinity Starter Pack. I also recommend printing the Split and Merge Pack for use with The X Files Pack.

Add mesmerizing new dynamics to your Roll Hexfinity system with The X Files expansion pack! This set introduces two new X-shaped bricks that allow balls to criss-cross each other in mid-roll, unlocking stunning, intertwined pathways and adding even more creative possibilities to your modular maze designs.

Why Add X Bricks?

Sometimes a simple roll isn't enough—you want motion that feels alive. The X bricks create visually striking intersections where balls cross paths and interact, adding delightful unpredictability and motion to your builds. Watching balls weave through each other brings a whole new level of excitement, energy, and complexity to your layouts.

What’s Included:

• X1 Brick: Features two input paths angled 120° apart. Great for broader, sweeping crossings.
• X2 Brick: Features two input paths angled 60° apart. Perfect for tighter, high-energy intersections.

The difference is subtle at first. The X1 brick works easiest with the split and merge bricks since their exists and entrances are also 120° apart. The X2 brick, though, can also be perfect when you want some tightly intertwined paths.

Both bricks are standard 21mm "brick" height with a 7mm downslope—matching the design of all non-flat Roll Hexfinity bricks. The downslope ensures that even when paths directly intersect, the balls naturally resolve their collisions through physics, keeping your maze flowing smoothly.

Recommended Pairings:

The X Bricks work best when combined with elements from the Split and Merge Expansion Pack, allowing you to split balls onto multiple paths before they cross over and interact at an X junction. Creative use of splits, merges, and X intersections can create dazzling, layered designs that feel alive and spontaneous.

What's Next?

The X Files is part of the continuing expansion of the Roll Hexfinity system. With this release, your ability to create intricate, criss-crossing ball mazes becomes even stronger—and there’s still more to come!
