The Type 056 corvette (NATO reporting name: Jiangdao class corvette) is a new generation of multi-purpose light corvettes built and commissioned by China in 2012.
It features a deep-V, long-bridge deck ship type, ensuring good seaworthiness and providing ample hull space. Its stealth design, with an outwardly flared hull and inwardly inclined superstructure, offers excellent radar stealth capabilities.

It has a helicopter deck for helicopter operations but lacks a hangar. The ship is 89 meters long, 11.6 meters wide, has a draft of 4.4 meters, and a full load displacement of 1440 tons; it is powered by two marine diesel engines with twin-shaft and twin-propeller propulsion; it has a maximum range of 2000 nautical miles and a maximum speed of 28 knots; it is equipped with one 76mm naval gun, two remote-controlled automatic cannons, four YJ-83 anti-ship missiles, and one FL-3000N surface-to-air missile launcher.
The lead ship of the Type 056 corvette was launched on May 23, 2012, and officially joined the Chinese Navy on February 25, 2013.

The ship is primarily used for coastal defense, undertaking routine patrol missions, and providing support and protection to relevant maritime law enforcement agencies. It replaces older 053H corvettes and 037 submarine hunters that are no longer suitable for modern warfare.
