Description

This little 20x20mm square is something I made to help calibrate my printer, and it’s been super useful — so I figured I’d share it here. It’s only 2mm tall, so it holds well on the bed and prints fast (just over 10 minutes on my Bambu Lab A1 with a 0.4mm nozzle).

I use it every time I want to dial in the first layer or ironing settings. It’s helped me get cleaner top surfaces and more reliable first layers.

Why I made it:

  • Quick test before a big print
  • Easy way to fine-tune first layer squish
  • Great for adjusting ironing settings

My settings (included in the 3MF):

  • Printer: Bambu Lab A1
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm
  • Layer height: 0.2mm
  • First layer height: 0.1mm
  • First layer speed: 30 mm/s (slow for better adhesion)
  • Ironing: Enabled

Ironing settings I’m using:

  • Speed: 30 mm/s
  • Flow: 20%
  • Inset: 0.21 mm
  • Line distance: 0.15 mm

The 3MF file includes all these settings. It helped me dial in my machine — hopefully it’ll help you too.

Tip: Look for a smooth, slightly glossy finish on the top surface — a good sign that your ironing is working well. And make sure your first layer is slow and consistent for solid bed adhesion.
