Description
For this mountain biking season, following the success of my self-printed front mudguard last year, I sought a rear alternative. The available options, involving bending a flat printed component and attaching it to the rear triangle, proved unsatisfactory. I anticipated potential paint abrasion from this method, prompting the design of a solution for optimal fit and compatibility across most mountain bikes. My mudguard design simply attaches beneath the seatpost, effectively shielding the bike's bearings and joints from dirt and mud. As the images illustrate, installation is straightforward with two cable ties—ideally color-matched for aesthetic appeal; mine are temporarily white. For enhanced security and a snug fit, consider interposing a thin rubber layer.
