Informational Update 5/27/2025
The model is now a MakerWorld exclusive! Thank you all for your help in this. I have also updated the picture to look a bit nicer. Same models, just a new picture and the update to MakerWorld Exclusive.
Thank you all for helping me with this project, I have been working on this since the beginning of the year and I was so excited to see how well received it was from the very beginning.
Boost Me (for free)
Please boost me to help keep my models like this free! It's free for you but makes a world of difference for me
This is a fully 3D printed lens cap that is designed to work almost immediately off of the printer. The lens cap itself is print in place which means there is no assembly required. The only thing you will have to do is let the print cool off to room temperature to allow the plastic time to harden. It doesn't get any simpler than this!
Current List of Tested Fits:
- 40.5mm
- 49mm
- 52mm
- 55mm
- 62mm
- 67mm
- 72mm
- 77mm
Current List of Untested Fits (let me know if they fit for a shout out):
- 82mm
Special thanks to these collaborators for helping me get the sizes correct and designing the model! If you would like to be included on the collaborators list be the first to print out a size and leave an honest review on if it fits or not.

Please do keep in mind that because everything is printed that these will not last forever. Due to the spring being made out of plastic over time it will lose it rigidity. If printing in PLA do not use matte as those do not have nearly as much rigidity as standard PLA.
I highly recommend printing in PETG. Due to the nature of PETG, it makes for a better spring than PLA while lasting longer. ABS is the ideal choice for a spring, however, these lens caps were not designed or tested with ABS in mind. PETG and PLA are much more available so that is what they were tested with. If you print in ABS you are printing at your own risk.
After finished printing let the print cool off before use. If you immediately use the finished print after it is done printing you will warp the spring mechanism and shorten the lifespan of the lens cap, as well as weakening the strength of the spring. You'll need to let the print cool off for a second before using.
If you have a size that is not currently listed please send me a message and I will get to work on making it and uploading it! I will continue to upload more sizes here so check back regularly or follow to get notifications!

Informational Update 4/27/2025
I have been reading all of your comments and I'm trying to come up with a solution. I am currently working on improving the spring mechanism to improve overall feel and reduce tension, making it easier to use. All lens caps will be receiving an enhancement! Make sure to follow me on MakeWorld to be the first to hear about the updates.

Update 5/02/2025 | Informational Update
-62mm spring changed
The library is now finished unless somebody requests a new size, in which case I will make it. I have remade all springs that needed changes. Now all models starting at the 55mm to 82mm now have the same spring, it is smaller to reduce the strain of trying to get it to work properly. Additionally, all print profiles are uniform now and all the lens caps use the same print profile. This unfortunately was not the case before and it caused some issues, for that I apologize. I will continue to work on the library as needed if anyone has any suggestions. I believe all size lens caps will fit as the sizing I have done with them has shown to scale correctly and fit, however, I will keep the same testing model as I have had.
The Future of this Project
I will be releasing a new set of the exact same lens caps just without the text on top to allow people to customize them as need be. This has been something that I have been thinking about doing and have had a couple of requests for. With the library complete I will get to work on that. In addition to this I am going to working on a version 2 for these that I will upload sometime in the future so keep watch out for those. I have already done some thinking on what to include and changes to make. I am going to wait until I am apart of the MakerWorld exclusive program before I release them though. I am almost there so that should not be an issue.

Informational Update 5/12/2025
The version two lens caps are now in development. From the time of this post it will probably be around a month to two months before they will be ready. I have learned a lot from this first version and will put the same amount of effort into the next ones.
