Description

Improve the ergonomics of your shovel, rake, or any other garden/yard tool by adding a 2nd handle. This version is designed for tool handles that are an inch or slightly larger in diameter - up to 30 mm. It is designed for use with ¼" nuts and bolts.

I know it seems wrong, but don't print this in PETG. It stands up better in PLA. Most if not all reports of this breaking have been printed with PETG. ABS or ASA would also be an excellent choice but PETG seems to be a bad choice for this application - maybe it gets too brittle in the cold?

Print with lots of walls and top/bottom layers for strength - my profile has 8 walls and 10 top/bottom layers. Infill really doesn't matter but I used 15% gyroid.

Other sizes coming - add a comment and let me know what size you need.

Which brand of PETG did you use? Let me know how it holds up, I have had some reports of them breaking printed in PETG.

Do you have the print profile for it in PETG?

I am about to try it with PETG-CF (Carbon-Fiber). I have heard with PETG-CF the FLOW RATE needs to be at MAX 8cubic cm per sec

Have you tested it out yet? How has it held up?

I never even got to use it, I left it outside and went out one day after it snowed and the cold weather must have shattered it. maybe need to print in ABS or something but I think I’ll just order one on Amazon

Would you be able to do one close to this height? https://reachrightusa.com/shop/reach-right-handle/?utm_source=SBMowingSocial Not sure exactly the height of it.

I agree this would be cool to have it like that one

I could but most printers would not be big enough to print it. You would need one of the larger printers such as a Bambu Lab H2S to print it.

I printed one for my snow shovel and it worked great (I used a non slip pad on the handle clamp to prevent it from sliding) Unfortunately it doesn't fit on the new metal shovel I bought to deal with all the ice (January 2026 ice storm!) Could you make one for a 37mm handle please? Thanks!

Very strong printed in PETG. I imagine it will hold up a long time. I recommend using ABS or ASA if you can because PETG is slightly flexible. Edit: It broke on me today. It seems to put a lot of pressure on two small areas, could be fixed by bulking up the area where it connects to the shovel.

Can you share where it broke? I would love to improve this if I knew what area needed reinforcement.

It's been a while but I recall it was where the bolts go through. I modified it on my end by increasing the height so there is more contact area with the shovel and added a third set of bolt holes (although I still only use four bolts). I've abused it a ton since I printed the new version and it's worked for me.
