Description
Snap-In Hygrometer Mount for Filament Storage Boxes
A clean, tool-free way to monitor humidity inside cereal-style filament containers
This model is designed specifically for monitoring humidity inside cereal boxes used to store 3D printing filament.
It’s a simple, snap-in mount for your hygrometer—no need to cut, drill, or alter the container in any way.
Why You Need This
Moisture is the silent enemy of good filament. Wet filament can lead to:
• Poor layer adhesion
• Brittle parts
• Stringing and blobs
• Uneven extrusion
This is especially true for engineering-grade materials like Nylon, PA-CF, PC, or TPU, which absorb moisture quickly and degrade in performance if stored improperly.
To avoid these issues, many makers store filament in airtight cereal containers with silica beads to absorb excess moisture—and a hygrometer to monitor conditions.
This is where this tool-free mount comes in handy!
Key Features
• 🌀 Models available for both round and rectangular hygrometers
• 🧵 Minimal filament, fast print
• ↕️ Works in upright or upside-down storage orientations
• ✅ No container modifications required
Installation
Just press the holder from the inside into the groove around the lid of the container.
It should snap in securely and stay in place.
If it becomes loose or slips into the container, a small drop of super glue will keep it stable.
Compatible With:
This design fits standard cereal containers widely used for filament storage.
Click here for the exact containers I am using.
It is compatible with common hygrometers like those available on Bambu Lab’s store and other online platforms.

Pro Tip:
Pair this holder with a printed silica pouch inside the spools core, to help keep filament dry for longer.
See my remix, it uses minimal Filament.
Check the hygrometer occasionally and refresh or recharge the beads when needed.
Want to keep your filament fresh and your prints clean?
This is one of those small upgrades that makes a big difference.
Update (May 2025): Added an optional elevated version that positions the hygrometer farther from the lid for improved visibility, with slightly increased filament use and print time. Both round and rectangular variants are now included in a single print profile.
