Description

New version of your favourite parametric model !

What's new ?

  • Redesigned from scratch in Fusion for better parametric compatibility.
  • Now fully square design for easier printing and less post processing.
  • More parametric options (especially for different magnets).

Your favourite model now fully parametric !

Due to high popularity of this model and a lot of requests, I finally managed to find time to make this model fully parametric.

This means that you can customize both the dimensions of the case and dimensions of the slots for magnet.

It is my first model that is parametric, so if you encounter any issues, please do let me know before giving it bad rating. Thanks and enoy !

Sleek case for clip-on (magnetic) sunglasses. Helps protecting your clip-ons and fits into most pockets.

It is a “print in place” design, so no assembly needed. Uses 4pcs of 4x1mm magnet.

I suggest lining the inside with adhesive EVA foam. I used 2 parallel strips of 30x1mm EVA foam.

But you can use anything soft at your disposal as lining to prevent scratching of the lens.

I aim to upload at least one original, practical model every week. Stay tuned! 😊

IMPORTANT: This model requires precise filament settings and printer calibration. Only proceed if you're confident in your setup and filament is thoroughly dried. Otherwise, you may experience tolerance issues, significant stringing and other print defects.

Please note that a poor print due to user error shouldn't be a reflection of the model's quality. If you're a beginner, consider honing your printing skills before attempting this model to ensure the best results.

The parametric case is floating on one end? This is already when I open it in the model maker, can't get it to lie flat on the plate.

Creator seems offline. It's a pity, I really like this case.

Faulty adaptation in the generator (printed with P1S and PLA), one hinge is missing, on the other hinge the pivot is not possible (breaks immediately). What is the reason for this? It can be seen that the generator shifts the hinges. Download was as 3mf. I'll try again with new generation and download as STL. Update: The new generation worked, but the hinges are still too tight/glued together and break upon first folding. I have no stringing and very dry filament. What else can be improved on my end? PS: I've been printing for a year now and have never had these problems before. I also see that there are no other reviews with problems on the object - so it's probably my fault... but what's the reason?

i have the same issue regarding hinges being too tight. I use orca slicer, downloaded as an STL, and printed using a A1 with a fresh, out of the box PLA. I suspect it could either be because of arachne wall generation or variable layer height. I also changed the dimensions of the case to be 50mm tall.

I only have 6mm magnets here, but when I put the parameter in the parametric model, it has this defect. Would it be possible to revise it so that when the magnet diameter is increased, the excess is pushed inside instead of leaving the outer wall too thin and with a hole?

the other side of the model “broke” completely

Hello. Great design. That is what I'am looking for since years for my clip on sunglass. My clip on has a hight of 7mm in the middle. By using an EVA inlay of 1mm it would be grat, if you can upload a case with 9mm total hight inside and 3mm wider? Than the clip on will be not pressed inside. That would fit perfekt. Is this possible? Jens.

Hi Jens, sure, it should be possible. By 3mm wider you mean this inner dimmension ?

Hi, That would be great. My apologies, I was a bit imprecise. By width, I meant the long side of the case. Upon closer inspection, an additional 2mm on the short side would also be beneficial. I've attached an image. Without EVA foam lining. Oh, I seem to have mismeasured there as well. The glasses are approximately 12mm high in the center. So a total internal height of 15mm would be perfect

I uploaded a new print profile with the dimensions you requested. Please check the inner dimensions in slicer before printing. I can adjust the model if needed. Enjoy ! :)

I created a personal model from the browser but it is wrong on one side, the housing for the magnet is missing! I modified the height and it gives me this problem on the points for the magnets
