Description
1:16 Toyota Tacoma
This is the second model I scale down to 1:16. This model is a lot harder to print and assemble then the 1:16 80's Dodge RAM, but has a lot more to offer! It is assembled with common M3 hardware, has a working hood that latches with magnets, a working tailgate and headlights, taillights and fog lights that can be printed transparent and fit 5mm LEDs!
Required Hardware
Optional Hardware
- 1x 6x3mm magnet (for the hood latch)
- 1x 5x1.5mm magnet (for the hood latch)
- 2x M2.5x3mm pan head screws (for electronic switch)
Required RC Products
You will need a compatible RC chassis, here are four options:
- 1:16 Truck/Crawler 4x4 RC Chassis. This chassis is 100% compatible and only requires you to substitute the frame and driveshafts.
- This WPL C14/C24 chassis, with the low profiles shocks from this model. (The stock shocks are too tall, aftermarket shocks requires lots of modifications). Also needed is this Front Axle servo mount kit. You will also need the extended frame from this project.
- A full metal aftermarket WPL chassis. Aftermarket shock absorbers (with bracket) are short enough to fit. You will still need the extended frame from this project.
- 1:16 Truck/Crawler Flexible Rolling Chassis. This is a non-RC chassis and is 100% compatible and only requires you to substitute the frame. A V6 add-on kit is also available for this combination.
notes:
- You will also need an ESC, a receiver and a battery.
- The electronics bay switch cutout will fit a SS12F15 switch, which some ESC come with.
- The engine bay will fit a generous battery like this 2S battery pack. I'm using these HRB 2200mah packs.
- The "(smaller printer")" profile will require 4 extra M2.3x6mm screws for assembling the two-pieces frame.
- You should print elec_bay_a.stl even if you use the Flexible Rolling Chassis, as this will add rigidity to the suspension.
Optional RC Products
- 14 LED Light System, as featured in the assembly video
- 5mm LEDs for foglights, as featured in the assembly video
notes:
- The headlights will fit 2x 5mm LEDs and 1x 3mm LED each
- The taillights will fit 2x 5mm LEDs and 1x 3mm LED each
- The fog lights will fit 1x 5mm LED each
Chassis Assembly
- Use the provided 196mm frame to build the chassis. The stock (190mm) frame is too short.
- Use +2mm longer driveshafts:
- For the 1:16 Truck/Crawler 4x4 RC Chassis, or stock WPL chassis use the driveshafts provided in the extra_stl folder.
- For an aftermarket chassis, make sure your driveshafts are long enough.
