Boost Me (for free)

Leave me a boost if you like it!

Check out my newest model:

Second version of my popular build plate cleaner.

I implemented the most common wishes in the comments:
- more clearance to stop the ring from rubbing

- better pad retention

- optimized for printability

- made it more ergonomic (space mouse like)

Tired of using toilet paper or linting cloths?
This build plate cleaner uses disposable cosmetic cotton pads you can find at any store!
Simple two part design.
No need to cut cloth or tedious assembly, just drop in a cotton pad and twist it until it snaps shut.

Spray a bit of IPA on your build plate and wipe it with the cleaner.

For 55-60 mm cotton pads (can be scaled within reason)

Please use quality PLA and calibrate your extrusion for a nice snap.

Check out the holder:

Check out my coffe clips with the same snap lock design

I really love this build plate cleaner. I tried another one before but got more hooked with this one, just printed a simple color version to start with, brand new to 3D printing, bought my first printer less than two weeks ago, so I will probably print another version with other colors in the near future 💯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I created one myself. I had a discussion with the creator @DieProfikeit , and I have uploaded the HSW holder so you can find it now under printing profiles here. Please be aware that I'm new into both 3D Printing & CAD, so please give me feedback of changes that might needs to be done with it, and I'll do my best.

This printed well and I like the design. I took away one star because you decided to keep your old design up, which is a bit useless. Yes, I know you put one line in your old listing linking to the new design but most do not read the descriptions for a simple, straightforward print. I didn't realize it until the print was complete. Please take that version down or replace the file in the listing. I actually printed the first one, only to be disappointed realizing it would rub on the plate. At that point I was determined to redesign and post my own. Before I opened up Fusion 360 to get to work I did a search for alternatives so I wouldn't blow a few hours redesigning the wheel. Others may do the same, so that old file may ultimately hurt you. Overall good work. Keep it up. I don't have any boosts at the moment but when they eventually show up I will pass it on to you. I liked it so much I designed a holder for it that mounts inside the print cavity. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I actually like my old design with the lower profile more, it feels less "tippy" to me and I never had an issue with the occasional scrape, I use PLA bed scrapers on the bed anyways. I intentionally designed it that way the first time. But after I got several reviews I decided against my own liking to make something some people like more. I still think most people are fine with the first and might even like it more, but most dont write a review if they have zero issues, instead of some justified criticism. There were maybe 10 out of 3000 people who had this particular complaint. Like everything here on makerworld you sadly have to design with very lose tolerances because many people disable calibration and use bad filament, so yeah, I get it nice and snug while prototyping and make it a lot worse before uploading or I get lots of complaints when its too tight. I test all functional parts on my X1C and A1 mini usually with bambu and generic filament at random but even that doesnt guarantee it works for everyone. I stopped uploading different tolerance versions, this brings its own set of issues. The logo is my makerworld picture no Ubunto logo. And it always, even in the app, takes you 2 clicks to make a multi color print single color. But I figured its pretty pointless anyways. Thank you again for this honest review!

I personally love the old design and don't plan on replacing it.

That seems pretty harsh, as does the way you articulated it. I’d suggest we all rate each design based on its own merit, and try to do so politely.

Looks good, works fine, I like it a lot. Thanks! Dark nut instead of orange would be a better choice, because orange gets dirty if it touches the vertical axes. Keep that in mind if selecting a colour combination.

But it looks way cooler in orange!

It does, I agree, but I touched a greasy axis once, and it's already dirty.

printed very nicely, had printed the old one a few days ago but when drenched in alcohol it'd scrape, which is solved with this one. snaps very nicely in eachother.

I really like this! I went a bit overboard with colors. But I also found out you can use different pads besides the makeup pads. You can use anything from a normal napkin to the blue shop towels or a microfiber towel. Don't even need to cut it perfectly round, can just force it in and twist. It's really a great design and you can tell that the creator put a lot of time and energy into making this model!

If you don't mind I'd like to make a suggestion for a possible update? I found a different bed cleaner, and their design put a pretty big bevel on the bottom of the nut side. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1290907-build-plate-cleaner if you decide to ever make an update of your model, that would be a decent thing to experiment with, since it would prevent accidentally scratching the bed surface with the square edge of the nut, and give you a bit more wiggle room of not having to hold the knob completely perpendicular

Thank you for the suggestion. I don't think it's an issue, most people use PLA scrapers on their bed and it doesn't hurt it all. If you tilt the cleaner so much that it scrapes it doesn't clean because the pad isn't really touching. Also my mechanism wouldn't be printable without lots of supports with a radius on the bottom. It's great that there are different solutions out there.

Hi, these are the "GLOV All Skin Types Pads", coming from the Glov starter set. I think the "Reusable pads GLOV Moon Pads Original Fiber" would come closest to them texture wise. I'm sure there are many alternatives to find online though :).

This is a great tool - very clean fast print and designed very well. The designer for the tray I wanted designed it to use this piece and it fit perfect. As far as usability, this cleans very well and I thank you for sharing your design :) I’ll send you a boost as soon as I get more 🌸

it’s just an ordinary microfiber cloth that I cut to fit - it works very well to dry up anything the cotton doesn’t absorb

the red cloth is just a micro fiber cloth I cut into circles for those days I need to scrub away glue otherwise the cotton rounds are perfect. Now that I think about it I’m going to print another one so I have one for each type :)

these are genuinely fantastic. I literally use it multiple times daily when printing. for full scrub-downs and quick wipes with alcohol. I did an “ams lite” theme along with a few other pieces with BL gray petg-translucent and BL’s new yellow pla tough+
