Description

Inspired by the simplicity of old-school washboards, this compact, easy-to-assemble washing system is designed for hikers who don’t mind getting dirty—but still want clean gear. With ridged surfaces on both the wash basin and wash plate, the plate twists back and forth to work out sweat, grime, and trail dirt—no electricity or plumbing required. A built-in splash guard keeps water where it belongs, and the easy-grip handle makes scrubbing simple and satisfying. Just add water, a drop of soap, and some elbow grease—your trail fits will thank you.

Load Capacity:

  • 2–3 pairs of socks
  • or 1 adult-sized hiking shirt
  • or 1–2 hand towels

How to Use:

  1. Remove the splash guard and wash plate from the basin.

  2. Add 1–2 cups of water and a drop of soap into the basin.

  3. Place your clothing inside the basin.

  4. Set the wash plate on top of the clothing.

  5. Reattach the splash guard to the basin rim.

  6. Grip the handle and twist the wash plate back and forth to scrub out dirt.

  7. Pour out dirty water by flipping the entire washing machine upside down—the splash guard will securely catch the wash plate and keep your clothes in place. Pro Tip: Bushes make great targets🌿

  8. Add another cup of water to rinse, twist to release remaining dirty water, and dump like before.

  9. Rinse & repeat till the clothes are squeaky clean!

Build Notes:

This Portable Washing Machine is designed for easy, low-fuss assembly. The only piece requiring attachment is the handle, which fits into the square slot on the wash plate—just apply a bit of super glue to secure it, and you're good to go!

Happy Washing!
