This is the first Parametric Seed Starting Tray 😄

🪴 Parametric Seed Starting Tray – 100% Customizable

Kickstart your garden with this modular, parametric seed starting tray system! Designed with versatility in mind, this tray allows you to generate different cell layouts, cell sizes, wall thicknesses, and drainage styles — all fully parametric and optimized for 3D printing.

🌱 Key Features:

  • Fully customizable grid layout and size
  • Built-in drainage (pop-up) holes and air-pruning side slot
  • Stackable design
  • The default print profiles are designed to fit 10 in × 10 in trays.

🛠️ Key Parameters (default for the 5inx5in 4x4 tray):

  • Layout
    • num_cell_rows                = 4;     // Number of cells in a row
    • num_cell_cols                = 4;     // Number of cells in a column
  • Cell Size
    • cell_bottom_size = 22;      // Outer size of cell at the bottom (mm)
    • cell_top_size    = 32.65;    // Outer size of cell at the open top (mm)
    • cell_height      = 40;          // Total height of the cell (mm)
  • Wall Thickness (1.2mm for extra durability, 0.8mm to save filament)
    • bottom_thickness = 1.2;     // Thickness of the bottom
    • wall_thickness   = 1.2;         // Thickness of the side walls
  • Drainage and Air-pruning Side Slot 
    • hole_diam        = 17;          // Drainage hole diameter in the bottom plate (mm), recommend >= 15mm to let a finger pass through
    • chamfer_size     = 1.5;       // Size of the chamfer on each wall edge, needs to be scaled with cell size (mm)
    • vertical_opening_ratio = 0.5; // ratio of the air-pruning side slot located on the chamfer to the cell height
