This uses just less than 1 M of EL Wire in a double strand for extra light. These are the ones I used.

To assemble it's easier just to take off the EL wire end cap then slide a strand through from underneath and pull it all the way through, until the power wire stops at the hole, then push the uncapped end though the other hole just enough to put the cap back on and push it into the slot underneath.

You then just push the double stranded EL wire into the grove, glue is not necessary and friction fit is fine. You'll end up with a few centimeters that overlap on the bottom layer but it helps to hide the holes. Or of you like, you can have just a single layer, with a real neon sign look, and cut off the excess EL wire. Either cover the cut with the existing cap or as I did, just use a dab of hot glue.

EL Wire Star - for wall mounting

EL wire Star with hook - for hanging with a string

Hollow EL wire star with hook - with a hollowed out middle but can be tricky to hide the wires
