Description

Foldable Cribbage board - Great for Travel!

This design is similar to the other remix I have, however based on feedback and my own experience I've completely rebuilt it.

Features:

  • Colored tracks for each player
  • Starting peg holder
  • Game count tracker
  • Filleted edges with less sharp edges
  • Skunk line marker
  • 3 layers (.6mm) of colored filament shows color well but does not use excessive amount of filament switches
  • Holds together with magnets, stays firmly closed yet easy to open
  • Stores pegs and deck of cards inside
  • Peg storage area larger than other model to allow virtually any peg to be used and stored

I've also redesigned the cribbage pegs from the other model I have making them longer and more tapered. There are specifically designed to fit into this board, but could be used for another board. I've set them up as 3 of each on one plate with print by object (each set of 3 is one ‘object’). If you aren't using a bed slinger - or are confident about your bed adhesion - you could turn off the brim, but I didn't want a lot of bad reviews due to poor adhesion and pegs falling off.

The bottom of the board being printed in blue is a happy accident. On one of my prototypes my printer ran out of black and just started feeding in blue (it's not supposed to do that) and I liked the result so I kept it. Obviously you could keep it all the same color if you prefer.

The profile is setup to pause to allow you to insert the magnets which are then covered with plastic. This will require firm pressure, straight down into the model. Make sure you put them in opposite each other so that the case stays closed (instead of not closing). I printed at least 3 prototypes as I refined the design and not once did I use any glue and had no issues at all. (Though I'm told using hardened steel hot end may be different than using a stainless steel - however, these magnets fit in very firmly).

Update: Added a “Blank” print profile. In this model the board does not have the word “Cribbage” embossed on it. As per user request, this allows people to customize that part of the board using Bambu Studio text feature. I suggest using a “thickness” of .1 and “embedded depth” of 1.0.

Great cribbage board! I really like it. I printed it in PETG because it will be kept in a car and I don’t want it to warp/distort when it gets hot. But I have some requests: 1. Make the card box holder a little deeper - the board won’t close around two different decks in their boxes. 2. Fill in the engraved letters on the top - I’d like to use flush lettering of a different color. 3. Make the peg holes a little deeper - the pegs on the outer tracks sit higher than those on the inner tracks. 4. Make the magnets flush with the top of the box and epoxy the magnets into the holes - the filament layers above the magnets are distorted and the magnetic attraction isn’t as strong as it could be through the layers of filament.

Every deck I own closes great. So I’m surprised you have this closing issue. I only have 4-color AMS…so the flush lettering would have to be one of the current colors. Peg holes would be easy enough to make deeper. As for the magnets I very much like that they are covered and didn’t have any distortion you speak of. Also find it closes quite strongly using the magnets from Bambu.

Thank you for the quick response. I imported the board's STL into FreeCAD and made inserts for the "Cribbage" & "S" text. In Bambu Studio, I made some negative part rectangles to increase the card deck storage area, and I used some more negative part cylinders and fillers to adjust the positioning of the magnets. Then I trimmed the length of the pegs down to 28mm. So all my requests are addressed. And I also made a cover for the peg storage area to keep the pegs from falling out.

Flawless print! Everything fits together perfectly—no tweaking needed. The pegs fit snugly, the compartments are spot on, and it all folds up cleanly for travel. A really well-designed and thoughtful file. Highly recommend!

Printed two boards. Both turned out exceptional. used the template with the empty space to add my nieces name as she wanted a custom board.

looks great thanks! a couple minor complaints: -kinda funny ive never seen the plate text transfer because of how close this gets to the edge on the smooth pei plate - how did you get the magnets to stay in affer the pause? glue them in? since they attract to metal mine immediately shot up and attached to the hotend when the nozzle crossed over them

I used the Bambu Magnets, and they require a bit of force to go in, so they were not coming up without some force. I can only assume you used another brand that was slightly smaller. I printed mine umm left-right on the plate so it didn't cover any text. I've never seen that before either, but I don't think I've printed over it either.

Thanks for the tips. i think the bambu studio app didnt list the magnets used like the mobile app/website so i didnt see the product link and it wasnt in the description. mine were slightly smaller and didnt press fit. They were also really strong neodymium magnets which probably didnt help and its my fault for not double checking. i found the bambu magnets were about half as strong. maybe ill just drill and heatpress fit some in. again super minor stuff that doesnt affect my review. and i still want to give you a boost when i get another as i like the print!

Love how this print turned out! I went ahead and made a little peg cover too, just to keep everything locked in place.

Very, very high quality. Couldn't be happier with the print and design. One of the best projects I've printed yet. Can't wait to use it on my next trip.

High praise, thank you. Enjoy.

Any idea how this happened (stringing between holes)? Also, the magnets don’t hold it together at all. Edit: I printed a second time after cleaning my build plate and added some additional drying time and it worked great. Magnets are still a little weak though.

I really like this model. I got a 4-pack of Polymaker Panchroma filaments from Costco and I used the marble white for the board, the "Starlight Neptune" and "Celestial Purple" for two of the tracks, and CC3D brand black silk for the other.

This came out great. I really like how nice it printed. I made it out of Pla and will make it again out of petg for the camper.
