I am happy to present the ”Expanding Ring Fidget”, inspired by this YouTube short I got in my feed.
This is truly a fun toy, which allows you to ”fidget around” in many different ways. The ring is easily expandable, and retracts when pushed from the sides. Sounds simple, but it is just a lot of fun. Please read the printing instructions before printing.
Boost Me (for free)
This model required printing 6 prototypes before becoming the final version. Please consider giving the model a like or even a boost if you enjoyed it! Many thanks!!

Printing instructions
Printing is easy, assuming that you have PERFECT control of bed adhesion. The area connecting the model to the bed is tiny. I had no issues, but I also use the ”Bambu cool plate supertack” at 55C with the addition of 3Dlac. I assume there will be a lot of complaints about failed prints. For this reason, I have included an extra plate ”with Brim” as well as the super safe ”raft”, where the model is fused to the raft.
If you have perfect bed adhesion, print without brim.
Otherwise, use the other profile with brim. As the brim needs to be completely removed after printing for a smooth mechanism, this can be a lot of work. Using the ”raft”-print is super safe for bed adhesion but requires you have a very sharp knife to cut the model of the raft afterwards as the model and raft are completely fused (see photo). This is difficult! Please do not cut your fingers!
Avoid Silk or Matte filament, or any other filament with bad layer adhesion, as the model will become too fragile.

After printing and removal of brim/raft, the model needs a massage to loosen up. This is best done by opening it up and rolling it between you hands. (see below)

Scaling
The model is highly scalable. I have printed 65% and 230% versions and have included these print profiles (see photo below). The 100% size is the best ”fidget” (and the one included in all other photos/videos), while the 230% version is a completely different toy. 65% is a challenge to print, and is overall more fragile.

Figure 2. Scaling the model from 65% to 230%.
Please have look at the 230% version from this video from GTPrintsDaily | Home - MakerWorld.
I have also made a keychain version if you want to attach the toy to a backpack!
My family has had a lot of fun with the many prototypes I have printed, and I hope you will enjoy this model as well.
Enjoy!
