Description

“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need… roads!”

Benchy to the Future – 10th Anniversary Ed.
To celebrate 10 years of the legendary 3DBenchy (2015–2025)

we imagined the model Doc Brown himself would’ve used to calibrate his printer… in the future!

This is Benchy to the Future, a special edition inspired by the iconic DeLorean from Back to the Future Part II, specifically from the time-travel sequence on October 21st, 2015.

Featuring:
• The legendary Mr. Fusion on the roof
• An integrated flux capacitor (available as a separate print profile - added later)
• Time-travel cables and futuristic details
• And of course… engraved on the side: “88.0 mm/s

🧩 Model notes:
This design fully respects the original 3DBenchy dimensions, so it remains compatible with calibration expectations and display standards.

The cables visible in the design are intended to be made with colored AWG30 silicone wire, commonly used in electronics and perfect for small-diameter detailing.

Wiring tip:

If you decide to scale the model up, make sure to use thicker cables proportionally , to preserve the original aesthetic and balance. You can use pieces of leftover filament to simulate the external time-travel cables.

If the filament breaks when you try to bend it, it may have absorbed moisture, try drying it before use.

🔧 Two versions available:

  • A single-color version, ideal for creators who want to hand-paint their own time-traveling masterpiece
  • A multi-color version, optimized for AMS or similar systems - just load up the filaments and let your printer do the rest

⚠️ ATTENTION - For the best result with sharp, detailed features, we recommend the hand-painted version, because nothing beats the personal touch and creative freedom of bringing your time-traveling Benchy to life with your own hands

Below are some images provided as inspiration for color choices, in case you decide to hand-paint your model.

FLUX CAPACITOR available as a separate print profile (because added later), just paint - or AMS print - and snap it in

Wondering if it really works? Let me answer as Doc would:

Does it work? Of course it works! You just need to hit 88 millimeters per second!

🎉 Happy 10th Birthday, 3DBenchy! Here’s to a decade of calibration, creativity, and community—into the future!
