For my three poison dart frogs (Dendrobates), I only ever need to take a small portion of the Drosophila (fruit flies). Since the stocking always slips and I then have flies running around everywhere, I was looking for a solution. I designed this lid, which I can close quickly and with one hand and only has a small opening.

Assembly:

  1. Attach the lid knob with a little superglue

  2. Insert the lid into the guide and secure it from below with the counter pin. Press together firmly.

  3. Stuff the stocking through the hole in the base plate and pull it tight so that it is positioned laterally at the container.
  4. Cut open the sock and place it over the guide ring
  5. Slip the fastening ring with the cutout for lid attachment over it and press it down firmly.

    See video for steps 3-5

Depending on the thickness of the stocking, the model may need to be scaled slightly smaller or larger.

Caution: Always press the lid down firmly after use, otherwise the little creatures will escape.

Therefore, always keep them in a water bath with a little detergent.
