Bill of Materials
Description

Previously, I either removed and stored my patio umbrellas or tied them together with string or ribbon to prevent them from being damaged by wind and weather (the balcony is on the windward side).
I figured a 3D printer could make this simpler and more aesthetically pleasing—so I designed a magnetic umbrella holder with a hinge in Fusion 360.
Some umbrellas have a safety mechanism to prevent them from collapsing. There are two 5 mm diameter holes for these securing pins—they can be neatly accommodated there.
The part can be printed in one piece (Print in Place) without supports. The 10x4 mm (Amazon) or 10x3 mm (Maker's Supply) magnets are not glued—they can simply be pushed in.
I printed the parts with ASA to ensure their longevity. Other materials will certainly work—but for outdoor use, at least PETG should be used.
I have slightly modified the height and hinge of the file—you can find it here under version V7.
