This model, requiring a minimum of only 2g of filament, provides a functional waste bin—a boon for those, like myself, who find dedicated print bins excessively time-consuming and resource-intensive.

Despite its efficiency in material and time usage, for ease of assembly, you will still need three magnets and a suitably sized cardboard box.

Regarding the Cardboard Box

Any appropriately sized cardboard box will suffice; however, prioritize thinner cardboard. I found the newer Bambu Lab filament boxes ideally suited, hence this design. They feature a side opening and utilize thin cardboard.

Compatible Magnet Types

Referencing magnet dimensions from other similar models on the market, this design accommodates most sizes. However, larger magnets are recommended for enhanced stability.

You can also utilize the customization options on the webpage to adjust magnet dimensions and quantity.

Installation

Prepare the cardboard box by trimming and refining its edges. This example uses a new Bambu Lab filament box.

Attach magnets to the model and secure it to the cardboard box using adhesive or double-sided tape.

Before applying adhesive, I strongly recommend positioning the box and model at the printer's waste receptacle to ensure optimal placement before securing it with adhesive.

Ensure a portion of the model protrudes beyond the box's edge to properly engage with the printer's waste chute.

If the box extends beyond the printer's waste chute, trim a small opening as shown, using the model's width as a guide.

Congratulations on your new, convenient, and eco-friendly waste bin. Happy printing!

remix. I use a small piece of tape and that's all. I didn't print anything. Use it. Just cut it out of the filament box

Same here. IMHO, printing those huge bins for flushed pieces is a waste of time and material.

Came here to boost the original solution and wanted to print it right away, just because of not printing for the god of printing. But you solution even better! Unfortunately cant boost it. I plan to make this taped part separate from box, so you may move box out and keep the tape part in place and then easy put box back.

Magnets and 2 grams of filament? That's expensive. :D An empty filament box and tape wins it. Did the same with my P2S.

Haha, an interesting combination! After seeing your comment, I updated the model. Now you can customize the size and number of magnets if you need.

nice… what about a U shaped model, with magnets up the sides, that you could cut the bag around?

This is a fantastic idea. I am tired of my cats pulling poop out of my fully printed bin and putting them all over the house. Thanks, and thanks to the designer of the printed part and idea.

Clean print, sustainable idea I printed 3 right away to collect waste separately by type (one box each for PLA, PETG, and ABS)

*****5 STARS***** I am sorry it will not let me rate your profile since I remixed it in a new project. Great idea and I had these rectangular magnets that are very small and very strong. I did not want to use double sided tape so I dropped a few dabs of CA and its in place. Enjoyed its ease of printing, low material and quick solution with a cardboard box going into the trash. Thank you so much for this. It is just what I was envisioning I needed. If you allow a remix I can upload this version profile and have it where the negative part can be easily modified. You please let me know, @Tshine

Thank you. I will get a version of yours printed so that it will allow me to give you a rating. I have some small sections of filament laying around that will be better used for this than going straight to the trash bin. Happy printing!
