Description

I designed this storage unit as a practical alternative to the official Wiener Philharmoniker Masterbox. While the original is robust and well-suited for transport and dense storage, I found it too heavy and inconvenient for regular handling. My goal was to create a lighter, more ergonomic version that maintains full compatibility with the standard Austrian Mint tubes while improving usability.

This model holds 8 tubes, each designed for 20 one ounce silver coins, reaching a total capacity of 160 oz (≈ 4,536 kg) . A key aspect of the design was ensuring finger clearance between the tubes to allow quick access  something the Masterbox doesn’t easily permit.

Design Considerations:

  • Capacity: 8 × 1 oz coin tubes = 160 oz
  • Tube spacing was optimized based on ergonomic access, particularly focusing on manual retrieval
  • The internal structure securely holds each tube in place while allowing smooth insertion and removal
  • Stackability
  • Based on measured dimensions of Austrian Mint silver coin tubes
