Any boost greatly received, thank you for stopping by.
NOTE: Use the list of print profiles to select the version you want. An all plates - all sizes version is available at the bottom if you show more profiles.
V1.1 Update: I've added an EasiClean bucket for 150,120 and 100 versions if you prefer (see print profiles) - This version of the bucket has curved filleted corners in the bottom of the bucket. This can help with cleaning if you use it for food/popcorn. I've added these to the full plate version and provided a separate 3mf with just these.
This is the ultimate quick-print, multi-colour, no AMS required, chunky, strong, parametrically based, multi-sized, original texture-correct, TNT Block box for Minecraft enthusiasts.
Prints up to 5 times quicker than some other boxes due to design decisions, without an AMS! Fast to print, easy to assemble! Comes in FIVE different sizes out of the box (no pun intended!), pick the plates for the size you want to print, ready to go. Requires no AMS, just a bit of super glue at the end. This then results in a much nicer print overall with no filament bleed or overlap (see pics) and a huge decrease in overall print times.
Uses a parametric design, so all scales have the correct wall sizes, uniform scaling would not have achieved this. The smallest size has thinner walls and you must handle the wraps with care. This was done intentionally to cut down on material when printing lots of little ones.
Instructions:
- Pick your size, all sizes are cubic, 150 is 150x150x150, etc. Pick 150mm, 120mm, 100mm, 75mm or 50mm. Some of these may not fit on an A1, please rearrange as necessary.
- Print the Box, Lid, TopWrap/Sleeve or Red Box Pieces plates for your chosen size.
- Print the other plates in various colours, the White TNT wrap should be printed in White if you want it to look the same as the Minecraft TNT. The Letters in Black, etc. Take special care removing the decals (Fuse Bundle and Wires from the build plate. Also take special care with the tiny red sleeve if you print that).
- Slide the White TNT wrap over the top of the box (you don't need to glue this).
- Slide the red sleeve piece over the box, glue in place (see video). This works well if you apply super glue to the top of the box piece and slide over through the glue, the glue will slide down with the piece and intersect the white sleeve holding everything together with no over-spill. Apply clamping force to the piece until it cures.
- Super glue all the TNT pieces to the white sleeve. Paying special attention to the direction, there's a chamfer towards the top of all pieces used to avoid supports, that should always point upwards. I prefer to glue inside the indented white part of the box and push the black TNT pieces inside rather than glue the black pieces, but you do you!
- Glue the grey Fuse Bundle to the top of the box. Check where you intent to place it first, see the image supplied for correct placement.
- Glue the black Fuse Wire to the grey Fuse Bundle on top of the box.
- Fill with popcorn/trinkets and enjoy!
Tips:
- I prefer to use B-7000 glue (check Amazon) it's open longer than standard Cyanoacrylate SuperGlue, doesn't cause blooming, can be pulled off surfaces, and comes with a pin-point applicator. If you've not got any, consider investing, I suspect you won't regret it. But you can just use normal superglue of course.
- For the tiny 50x50x50 block, the red sleeve is super delicate, don't worry if this breaks or bends, that's by design to fit the complete model, just glue it round, you won't notice.
- Print in PLA, it's about as food-safe as you're going to get.
- Avoid saturating with water, PLA layer grooves can collect water, which can spread and create bacteria. Instead, wipe with a damp soapy cloth to remove popcorn oil, and then just a damp cloth to remove the soap. If you do submerge this model in water, at least make sure it's completely dry before storing.
- I've included an AMS version of the lids for those with an AMS, if you prefer just to print this completely flat with no texture. This makes the little ones more stack-able as per the pictures.
- The 150 box is pretty much exactly the right size to fit one whole bag of microwave popcorn (tested with Costco popcorn). Smaller versions won't hold the whole bag, but obviously will print quicker and take less filament.
Enjoy your popcorn! :-)
