Arduino Alvik top baseplate (LEGO/DUPLO versions)
Print Profile(2)

Description
This baseplate, compatible with the LEG0 system, allows you to customize the top surface of Arduino Alvik, completing it and giving it a very cute look.
The model is composed of 3 parts:
- 1 baseplate (available in two versions: with LEG0 standard 12x12 or LEG0 DUPLO standard 6x6)
- 2 pins for assembly
The height of the baseplate matches that of a standard LEG0 brick and is designed for easy and quick installation. The baseplate is also easily removable, allowing quick access to the USB-C port of the Nano ESP32 whenever needed for programming Alvik.
On the bottom, there is a rectangular cutout to accommodate the Nano ESP32 board and two holes where the pins are inserted to attach it to the top of Alvik. The cutout is not visible from the top side of the baseplate, allowing you to fully use the LEG0 surface to customize Alvik.
The design is optimized to reduce printing time, limiting the need for supports to just the area of the cutout and the pin holes.
Once the three parts are printed and the supports removed, simply insert the two pins into the dedicated holes. You may need to slightly chamfer the edges of the pin holes to make insertion easier and ensure a proper fit (the mechanical joint ensures a secure hold although glue can be used for extra strength if desired).
Thanks to its special design, the baseplate can be mounted onto Alvik in two ways:
- Fully covering the top of the robot
- In reverse, leaving the Nano ESP32 board visible and creating a sort of “spoiler” on the back of Alvik
For printing, I used PLA with a layer height of 0.16 mm, a 0.4 mm nozzle, supports enabled and 15% infill.
