Description

Hello!

My original MagicTray was made for the magic keyboard with numpad. I've had several people request a smaller version that supports the keyboards without a numpad, so here it is.

The MagicTray is a dock for your keyboard and trackpad. One of my biggest pains was having to always reposition the trackpad due to it sliding around on my desk. Having them sit in a tray together was the perfect solution.

This model comes in 3 main parts, as well as 3 small legs. The 3 main parts slide and click together. I strongly suggest a big of glue inside the grooves. This is, of course, optional but its easy and convenient to do.
The 3 legs are also optional. I really wanted to tilt the keyboard slightly as you would with most traditional keyboards, so this is a nice quality of life feature to protect your wrists a little bit. Once printed, they slide in place under the tray. You can glue these in as well if you'd like.

A very special thank you to user @ivantomica
As i do not have the smaller keyboard, Ivan helped with testing, printing and provided all the photos in this post.

Hi @lite, Great work! But... My Apple Trackpad model (A1535) doesn't fit this cutout. I have slightly different corners. It looks like the corner radius is 4mm. Can you add such a version?

Seconded, I also have an A1535 with a smaller corner radius than the newer USB-C version.

I've just published a print profile with 5mm corner radius options. My trackpad is the older one as well so it would not fit. I've added 5mm options for all the pieces.

This print appeared out of nowhere after searching everywhere for the last few days. All of the parts fit together amazingly well. The switches and ports are easily accessible without any fussing. No glue is required for the tray, but I may glue on the feet if I like the angle enough. I did pick up a small warp because I printed each plate one after the other and didn’t wait for the bed to cool between jobs; however, the weight of the keyboard and trackpad are enough to keep the tray perfectly flat while in use. Bed adhesion was great and the parts were stuck very well, which is why I feel the slight warping is my fault. (Edited to add pictures.)

Took me a minute to figure out which ones I needed, but they fit my older model. Keyboard and trackpad is great. Thank you!

This took me a few tries, and I eventually enabled supports to get the tounge and groove joins to come out really nicely. I printed one in white and one in blue (PolyTerra Army Blue) which is the one I prefer. Thanks, this might re-ignite my use of the keyboard and trackpad - now I just need a left handed version.

I was really excited to see the MagicTray originally and was so happy to find the smaller version. The design is great and I like how flush the model fits. The way each section connects as well is really smart, as unlike similar models with simple cuts this feels much more sturdy and can be picked up. Great model!

is alright I printed and just turn it upside down and still able to charge your keyboard and trackpad without issue.

Before I print this, I have the newer USB-C version of the keyboard, but the slightly older lightening track pad. Will I have fitment issues due to the radius? If so, any way to post the f3d file (assuming that's how it was created)?

Or maybe you have a different model of the trackpad than the one that is supposed to go here?
