Boost Me (for free)
👋 Hello!! I'm new to 3D printing. If you enjoy my models, give me a boost to help me continue growing and designing more useful objects.
Hello again!!
On this occasion, I present a box for recycling used coffee capsules with a lid based on a mechanical iris. The iris opening diameter is 5 cm, so it may not be suitable for large capsules.
The remaining dimensions are approximately 28 cm (length) x 13 cm (width) x 13.3 cm (height). If you need a larger box, you can always scale the box body on the Z-axis within the slicer. Or, if you prefer, you can let me know, and I will upload a profile with the adapted size.
The parts are printed on 3 plates and use minimal supports. The iris consists of 2 rings and 6 blades.
The iris blades are printed in 2 pieces (the blade and one of the rotation axes or pins) that you must glue together for assembly. To do this, take a blade and glue one of the pins by inserting it through the hole in the blade, so that there is a pin on each side of the blade. You can place a piece of tape over the glued area to prevent friction that may hinder movement.
Once all the blades are ready, place them on the rotating lid, inserting the pins on one side into the holes provided. Then, press it onto the large lid, ensuring the pins align with the grooves where they should be housed. This completes the iris assembly.
For more detailed assembly instructions, I refer you to another iris model I designed, where I explain the assembly process in more detail with videos and images (https://makerworld.com/en/models/1245112-multipurpose-mechanical-iris-for-boxes-cubes-table#profileId-1266370).
I hope you like it and find it useful.
PS: If you print it, I encourage you to comment on your impressions of the model, upload photos of the result, and help me with a boost to continue creating more models.
