Description

The Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

I designed this and other temples as gifts for my Seminary students. You can change the bottom text in the slicer, so these could make great gifts for youth, relief society, elders qorum, or anyone who could use a meaningful decoration in their home. No supports are necessary except for the Moroni Statue.

Here are some cool facts about this particular temple.

"Always have the temple in your sights"

- Thomas S. Monson

Clogged a .2 nozzle trying to print it in marble, so I switched to a basic pla. Looks pretty good 👍. Removing the supports off moroni was nerve racking 😆

The little bit of blue in there looks very nice. Yes, the Moroni is about as tiny as a 0.2 nozzle can manage, I'm glad you stuck to it. Thanks for the picture!

I don't think that is my model of the SLC temple. It looks great though.

i was just wondering, if i was to print this, how would i change the words on the bottom of the temple?

Open it in your slicer. Switch to show objects rather than global settings and you can edit the text object that subtracts the text from the bottom.

what are the dimensions? I can’t seem to find them.

The slicer shows 70 x 113 with a height of 118 then the Moroni will add about 35 when added on top. I am sure you could scale up or down pretty well as much as you want. The Moroni can't be much smaller, but it could be bigger, and the building itself could be as big or small as you want it.

thank you! I need to figure out slicing…seems like that’s not possible in the app? probably the computer version?

There is lots and lots you can do on the computer version. I have never tried doing anything with the app, but assume it's restricting. Good luck.

Thank you! I saw a couple other payson models, but nothing with Maroni on top unfortunately. I love the way you do separate gold spires and Maroni on your models.

Moroni’s is trumpet is a bit thin and delicate, other wise great print

The Moroni himself is very small and delicate. I spent a lot of time playing with it to improve things. He is already about 4x bigger than the scale, and if I made him any bigger, I thought it looked goofy. I'm glad you liked it otherwise.

Noah @NJP_design I just printed this and am absolutely amazed at how much detail you have added. GREAT JOB! I am afraid to touch the supports for Moroni for fear of breaking him but especially the horn off. Any suggestions as to the best way to remove the supports? Cutting, melting, micro grinder?

I usually just use my filament cutters to snip around the most delicate parts and then carefully choose the direction to peel the rest of the supports of to not tug on the horn and arm.
