Description

Boost Me (for free)

If you like the model, feel free to boost it. Boosts are useful for understanding your interest and determining which projects I should focus on the most.

This is a 3D-printable modular Lazy Susan designed specifically as a rotating base for painting models. The first available versions features a 90mm (ideal for miniatures) and 160mm plate.

Unlike typical "print-in-place" designs, this model uses separate, printable bearing components that are assembled after printing.

For printing the bearings, I suggest a VERY GOOD clean of the printer plate. If you don't trust your bed adhesion, consider adding a brim to them.

Features

  • Easier Maintenance: Bearings can be inspected, cleaned, lubricated, or replaced if they are worn or deformed;
  • Modular Design: Each part can be printed and replaced individually. When the top plate becomes too covered in paint, simply print a new one;
  • Smoother Rotation: Separately printed bearings tend to be more accurate and reliable than print-in-place versions;
  • Protected Mechanism: The rotating mechanism is enclosed to shield it from paint splatter, which would otherwise shorten the lifespan of the bearings;

Assembly Notes

  1. Place the plate upside down on your work surface;
  2. Position the base on top of the plate;
  3. Insert the bearings one at a time (grease them, if you want), alternating their angles by 90° as shown in the picture:

  4. Screw the bolt into the threaded center of the plate to close and secure the mechanism:

    And it's ready to go.
