Description

This is a compact AMS Lite adapter for your Sunlu S4.

I didn't like how it's so big and bulky and I couldn't dry my filament while printing. The existing solutions didn't satisfy me, because I didn't want to break something. I know I will not forever stay on this printer and dryer combo and so they were not for me.

All you need to do is print the 8 single files or one of the combined files (Sunlu_S4_easy_AMS_Lite.*).

The mount is designed to sit on top of the dryer. I just glued it with hotglue because I didn't want to destroy something. The PCB holder is glued underneath the feeders on the back of the dryer.

Edit: I had to reglue one feeder after a month because I didn't use enough. Watch out to not glue the lid shut. I opened it just before it fully hardened to prevent that. Try opening both sides with the planned spacing to check if the feeders collide. My pictures should give a rough estimation where they should be placed.

Edit 2: 3M VHB Tape should work without any problems

Assembly

Limitations

  • I don't use NFC spools and didn't implement them. It's possible to adapt the parts.
  • I guess the hotglue could melt when heating the chamber. I just use it to store my rolls with Mode 2, so no extensive heating.
  • The Sunlu S4 has to stand sideways so the cable and tubes can reach. You could adapt these parts to be longer, but for me it fits.
  • Opening the Sunlu S4 is much easier than with the alternative solutions, but depending on your bowden tubes it could be a little bit annoying. I used the tubes from the Sunlu S4 and cut them in half. You can mount it like me on the sides. Than you might have to pull a little to unroll some filament to make the loop bigger to fully open, but that's no problem. You could also mount them on top, but I don't like this one when closing the dryer. It always tangles the filament because too much is unrolled.
