Description
My next Marble Run 003 add-on came to mind during my ski vacation when I was on a chairlift. So why not add a chairlift to the marble run? After a few hurdles I can now release this add-on as version v0.9. I think this version already works very well, but only the community can confirm or disprove that.
However, there are mandatory requirements for this add-on project. Firstly, in addition to the add-ons “Marble Run 003 5-Ways Roller Coaster v1B”, “Marble Run 003 6-Ways Looping v2” and “Tower Marble Run v8 (or v9), you need the “5-Ways Roller Coaster & Tower Marble Run Connector” and - very importantly - a speed controller. The chairlift can only be individually adjusted with the speed controller. It is also more fun to influence the speed. The installation of the speed controller together with a rechargeable battery is already described in the Tower Marble Run v8 (v9) assembly instructions (points 49-59). If you already have the Tower Marble Run v8 (v9) but no speed controller, you can install the speed controller without having to print the tower base part again.
UPDATE 1: I got a very good tip from @EsCee ! Instead of using a built-in speed controller in the tower, you can also attach a speed controller directly to the USB-A connection of the motor. @EsCee uses: https://amzn.eu/d/90qqDSy
BBL now also offers a USB speed controller. It also provides better protection. https://eu.store.bambulab.com/products/usb-speed-controller-compatible-with-tt-motor?
In any case, you need a speed controller, otherwise you won't be able to control the chairlift.
UPDATE 2: I‘ve added „7-Ways Chairlift Safety Net“ as a new Print Profile. It's more of a gimmick 😉, …but serves as a safety net for marbles that fall out of the chairlift.
UPDATE 3: I‘ve added „7-Ways Chairlift Redirect“ as a new Print Profile. This update is an optional small requested change that helps to have a more balanced marble number between Marble run 003 Add-ons and the Tower Marble Run v8/v9. The marbles that are carried by the chairlift are directly redirected back to Marble Run 003 add-ons.
UPDATE 4: As an alternative to the “Safety Net”, and based on an idea from the children of @benaus, I’ve uploaded the Print Profile „7-Ways Chairlift Funnel Escape”. Instead of catching the marbles in the “Saftey Net”, they are guided into the "Marble Run 003 Paddle Wheel Addon v2 Plus" track below. This means, of course, that you need to have this add-on too. If you don't have it yet, you can find it at https://makerworld.com/de/models/419236-marble-run-003-paddle-wheel-addon-v2-plus.
