Description

maGrab is a tool designed to easily pick up small metal parts—like screws, bolts, washers, needles etc, utilizing  magnets, with a simple single push release.

Features

  • One-handed push-release action
  • Compact and workshop-friendly
  • No supports needed
  • Spring + magnets required (1x1x0.5mm magnets)

Future Plans

This is an evolving tool. Future plans include:

  • Rubber string version(Cheaper, and easier to source).
  • Ergonomic improvements and different lever actions.
  • Strength adjustment by being able to adjust bottom plate offset distance.
  • Geared/mechanical advantage version, where you push further or harder.

Hi! This is my first upload. I started 3d printing in December and I've fallen completely in love! It's designed in Fusion 360, and drawn to fit the cheapest bullet-pen springs I could find, definitely my proudest design so far. Created in the wake of washer-picking frustration.

I will upload a few different version with different extension lengths and fitting a few different springs. I will also uploasd a base version with no cutouts, so that you can make the cuts yourself, fitting your magnets easily.

Photos are printed using the shared AMS profile on a fairly well(I hope) calibrated Bambu A1.

If you have any suggestions or want to remix, please do! I'd love to upload requested modifications or adjustments. I'm going to develop this further, so stay tuned for updates. By publishing a remix, you agree that I may freely use or incorporate any of your improvements (with credit), even in future commercial versions. (Although I kind of doubt Ill be able to quit my grunt job any time soon :P)
