Description

This large reptile hide is designed to resemble a natural rock formation. All the hides I found were tall, rounded and had thick walls - after scaling they used a lot of material and the snake had little space inside. The flattened shape, which snakes find especially appealing, provides a secure hiding spot, while the top features a basking rock. Additionally, a side opening allows for the attachment of a fake plant, enhancing the enclosure's natural look. The hide has a slightly square shape to fit well in the corner.

For best results, I recommend printing this model with tree supports. Avoid scaling it down along the Z-axis, as the ceiling is quite thin in some areas and may become too fragile. If you need a smaller hideout, reduce the size along the X and Y axes only.

so i needed the bigger one I don't get lotta experience in 3d printing so I did some mistakes) first I splitted to 4 parts as I can't print at night and in this case each part will print around 10-13 hours during daytime. second I did used connectors but had to place them more carefully as on some sides they were easily breaking off as they were printed on the z axes (vertically) first model got some shifted layers, I thought I'll works it out later. but turned out connectors weren't connecting and sides weren't abut each other in every directions. after assembling every print together i got some holes and imperfections. so i decided to use dichloromethane as a glue and overall smooth the surface where supports were...

didn't really worked as planned so decided to use 3d pen(got from niece) and fill the gaps between model. 3d pen worked good even tho it didn't get the same adhesion to the prints as it were coming off during dremel smoothing) I quit the idea. and decided to just cover it with rubberish paint for cars(asked the seller if it's safe, he confirms as the paint wasn't emitting anything) did few layers. after drying it still smelled funky... I read that snakes cant get poisoned with smell but it can makes them uncomfortable. so i decided to try and...he didn't want to get in🫠 I left it on the balcony and hope the chemical smell with disappeared after few weeks. let's pray😅 overall the print itself didn't worked for me as i did some mistakes myself) but I got a lot of experience and learned my lesson😅 the model itself great, maybe one day I'll reprint it with all knowledge i got now)

P.S. he is actually not my snake but my sister and she keeps him as minimalist) as he shitting and shedding at the same time inside the terarrium and all walls gett super dirty and stinky so that's why there is no decoration)

Wow a tiger python! Amazing, please boop the snoot from me. I guess my hide would be ok for maybe a hatchling haha. It's getting too small for my ball python and he's only 1yo (he's gonna be a big boy, he's already the male adult size). You can always print it larger if you have a bigger machine than P1/X1, I will use the same model with Prusa XL at my work, but I know it will be still too small for a 4 meter snake. But I just thought about the hide printed in parts. Thank you for your comment!

I've cut this model into 4 pieces with dove wing connectors, I think I'll print it soon out of curiosity if it works at all. If so, I'll post the printing profile here. Should I keep you updated?

Hello! I found some stone scans online, I chose one that I liked, I hollowed out the center, cut it in half, and made an entry hole using the boolean operation. I used 3D Builder, but it could also have been done with Bambu Studio

I've been thinking about making a tray for this hide, as my snake always goes to the bathroom in his hide and this would be helpful in keeping it clean. Thank you for your suggestion and great idea, I'll make something!
