“Encapsulating five thousand years of sun, moon, stars,
into the limited space of your desk”
Hello fellow Bambu users, calligraphy combined with 3D printing is back again! This time, I'm presenting a twenty-four solar terms calendar in the Lishu script style.
- The Four Beginnings: Lichun (Start of Spring), Lixia (Start of Summer), Liqiu (Start of Autumn), Lidong (Start of Winter) (the beginnings of the four seasons)
- The Two Equinoxes and Two Solstices: Chunfen (Spring Equinox), Qiufen (Autumn Equinox) (day and night are of equal length); Xiazhi (Summer Solstice), Dongzhi (Winter Solstice) (the longest and shortest days of the year)
- Temperature Changes: Xiaoshu (Slight Heat), Dashu (Great Heat), Chushu (End of Heat), Xiao Han (Slight Cold), Da Han (Great Cold)
- Precipitation Characteristics: Yushui (Rain Water), Guyu (Grain Rain), Bailu (White Dew), Hanlu (Cold Dew), Shuangjiang (Frost Descent), Xiaoxue (Slight Snow), Daxue (Great Snow)
Biological Activities: Jingzhe (Awakening of Insects), Qingming (Clear Brightness), Xiaoman (Slight Fullness), Mangzhong (Grain in Ear)
Jingzhe: The first spring thunder, insects awaken, the folk custom of “hitting little people” to dispel evil
Mangzhong: “Grains with awns are ready to be harvested, grains with awns can be planted”, marking the peak of the farming season
Shuangjiang: Plants wither, making persimmon wine, admiring chrysanthemums, symbolizing “bidding farewell to autumn and welcoming winter”
The solar terms are not merely a calendrical tool, but a uniquely Chinese expression of romanticism~a philosophical expression of understanding Heaven and Earth and revering nature!

Creative Process:

Simple assembly with only four parts:

The printed parts are directly inserted into the base, with allowances for easy insertion.
You may need to use 406 (or other quick-drying adhesive) during production
Use a sprue cutter or fingernail clipper to cut the rings in the printed parts and insert them into the holes.
Glue can be added to the holes to help secure them (if using wider rings, glue may not be necessary, but insertion may be difficult, it is recommended to print both versions and place them on the build plate.)
Apply glue to the back to maintain a clean front appearance; it is recommended to place the ring cuts on the back.
The file also includes blank DIY calendar boards, allowing you to unleash your creativity! Write your own calendar and decorate your desk!
The files in the document can be directly scaled and printed as paper versions using your printer. It is recommended to print the version in the 3mf file for better environmental friendliness and results!
Your feedback and suggestions for improvement are welcome. Thank you~
