Description
I'm totally digging this model, but first things first:
Please Repeat after me: I promise that I will NOT water my plant while it's hovering over an electric light. When the plant needs water, I will remove the internal planter from the shade, and place it in the included watering holder. (whew…and thank you!.)
Ok--- here are the details:
- Modular. Print multiple internal planters if you have more than one plant, or want to repot a plant.
- Works with the super nice puck light from Bambu for a plug in version.
- Works well with the battery operated color changing LED light from Bambu.
- Tips for Printing:
- Print the shade in a lighter colored material. Jade White is used in the photos.
- Print the internal planter in a neutral color light white, grey, or silver. If it's printed in a bright color, it will reflect and change the lighting color. (kind of a cool feature too!).
- Print several of the internal planters, and you can rotate your plants if you have just one system.
- Consider printing the internal planter in something like PETG so it is more moisture resistant. PLA is just fine too, but it will break down over time with the moisture. This is why it's modular in design. The internal planter super easy to replace if needed.
- The profiles for each plate have modifiers.
- The shade prints in 99% gyroid infill for the first 4.5 mm. This helps “hide” any infill pattern when the light is on.
- The shade prints in a single wall thickness with an outer wall thickness of 0.6 mm. This gives the shade a “heftier” feel, as we do want the lamp shade to be a single walled structure.
Care and use:
- NEVER water the plant while over the electrical components. I have included a nifty watering station to hold the plant during watering. Make sure the plant has completely drained before returning it to the illuminated system.
- Print more internal planters for future use.
Please share your photos!!! I can't wait to see my design freshening up the decor around the world.
And to make the ask, I would completely love and appreciate a boosts! When I work through a new design and concept, I think I have to print it about 50 times before it's “just right”. Every little bit help, and it's a huge mood booster.
If you'd like to sell your printed models, please use the licensing feature. I design in a commercial paid version of Autodesk's Fusion. It's about $600 a year or so for the subscription and my renewal is coming up soon. Every little boost helps me keep going.

Please never hesitate to send me a DM. If you've always thought of a model or concept, but haven't found it yet… I'd love to chat with you.
Sometimes the very best ideas start with a conversation and an idea. My design platform is commercially licensed Fusion360, by AutoDesk.
