Description

This is a plug is for ethernet ports to prevent dust buildup.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend using TPU filament. I tested on ethernet ports from four companies and I was only happy with the PLA fit in 3 out of 4. The retaining latch in a normal RJ45 plug allows the plug to be undersized but still stay in place.

There are two versions available:

  1. Flat - doesn't stick out very far, with slots for removal with fingernail.
  2. Pull Tab - sticks out further, and has a tab for easier removal.

Notes:

  • It might come of the printer not fitting very well: wait for the part to cool to room temperature.
  • Designed to be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle at 0.20mm layer height with arachne.
  • Included print profiles have been tuned for the best possible fit.
  • Keep in might that the TPU profile has different dimensions than the PLA version!

If you put two of them in opposing directions (like on a network switch with stacked ports, which is the vast majority of network switches), they do not properly sit within the port and overlap with one another.

Oh you're right - I didn't have access to a switch with stacked ports when testing, but I do now. It should be fixed now if you don't mind printing another one. The only drawback is that I've tested the PLA covers on four different brands...some fit great, but on one of my Cisco switches it's a REALLY tight fit. For that reason I strongly recommend using TPU.
