Filament Storage Dry Box v2 by Stan

Based on the Filament Spool storage Box by K2ij3 I have created this new filament box model.

The design includes two case options. One with a smooth bottom, and another with a threaded insert for easy placement and removal of a desiccant reservoir.

Two lid options are also available: one smooth and the other with a slot for a round hygrometer. You can choose the one that best suits your needs. If you opt for the hygrometer version, it is recommended to seal the joint between the lid and the hygrometer with glue.

This box is designed to be assembled with an O-ring that ensures a sealed enclosure. The O-ring has a wire diameter of 2.5 mm, providing a perfect closure.

Additional materials:
1x O-ring (ID=210mm OD=215mm WD=2.5mm)
8x DIN912 screws (M3x40)
8x threaded inserts (RX-M3Sx4.0)
2x threaded inserts (RX-M6Sx6.8) (if using the desiccant reservoir version)

1x grub screw DIN 913 (or similar) (M6x16) (if using the desiccant reservoir version)

If you can't find an O-ring of the exact size, you can easily buy a 2.5 mm diameter O-ring cord, cut a 667 mm piece, and join the ends with cyanoacrylate glue to form your O-ring. Alternatively, if you have TPU, you can print a 2.5 mm high ring.

INTERIOR SPACE OF THE BOX: diameter 205 mm × 70 mm (Make sure your spools are not larger).
BOX DIMENSIONS: 220×224×74 (In case you plan to store it in a tight space).

UPDATE: Now you have a ZIP file in “Download STL/CAD files” section where you can find a 3MF file inside. With this 3MF you can edit swatches easily just typing text. But it is only Orca Slicer compatible.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE O-RING?

I found an O-ring on AliExpress that, although it doesn’t match the dimensions originally planned in the design, fits perfectly. It’s also made of EPDM, a material that will retain its elasticity and sealing properties longer than NBR or other materials. Select size CS 3mm, 209x215x3mm
