Description

Here are Piers/pylons for KATO’s viaduct track. Compared to original piers here you can find piers in 5mm steps up to a height of 120mm giving a smooth ramp to never reached heights of viaducts. 

The height is defined from ground level to the level on which the Unitrack is based on. The standard height of KATO’s viaduct (called Number 5) is 60mm. The 120mm is therefore a 2nd level of viaduct. The 70mm height corresponds to the level of T-Trak-modules, that are based on KATO’s unitrack system. 

To fit the viaduct track onto the piers you need the so-called S-Joiner, that are offered by KATO under number 24-817 (20 pieces). I recommend using these original parts, although there is a DIY-version available, designed by 3DSandwich:

In my experience the DIY-version tends to break, if printed in PLA and is not easy to print in ASA, although strength would by sufficient in such case.

But in my final design there is nothing left from them, especially as their joiner fixing tents to break easily and I had to redesign it to another principle to make is reliable.

Beside the piers used at intersections of viaduct tracks Kato offers under Number 23-016 also intermediate piers for longer tracks, to get a more realistic appearance of the distance between piers. This set is hardly to get in Europe, and I don’t have one. But I created my own intermediate piers with its own bearing. The last one goes only with the DIY-viaducts and will not work with KATO’s original viaduct track by technical reasons.

The first part of evaluation of tracks up to the level of the pier 0 you may use my earlier design, that I can't give you a link here do to some cracy toybrick company, that doesn't allow Makerworld to name the bricks by its name… just have a look at my earlier models.
