ICOM IC7300 Collapsible Speaker Deflector for POTA
Print Profile(1)

Description
I am not sure about others, but when using top-firing speaker radios like the Xiegu G90 or Icom IC7300, I have one heck of a time pulling out faint signals, especially outdoors, because the audio is being sent upward and away from my face.
Looking around online, I found a bunch of 3d printer files for sound reflectors for the IC7300 that looked like wedges, semi-spheres, etc... but nothing that meets my idea of POTA-portable. In other words, I want light weight, low profile, compact, easy to pack away and deploy. So into CAD I went for a solution.
This is the final design I ended up with, after a few iterations of trial and error.
It is a 'print-in-place' design, printed out on my Bambu Labs X1C, so no assembly required. All hinges articulate after removing the support material. Most importantly...it does exactly what it needs to! Another feature...It has holes on the bottom for 3mm neodymium magnets which press-fit in, for a pop-on/pop-off the radio setup or breakdown. These hold firm enough to the radio to stay in place for all outdoor activities where you would be playing POTA, but without running the risk of throwing any magnetic-sensitive equipment for a ride. It could also be more permanently affixed with double sided tape too.
The ability for it to collapse down and latch to just over the thickness of a ball point BIC pen and smaller than a typical playing card means it should not require any extra work to fit into a transport case which is already set up for the radio.... or tossed into a bag or your pocket.
Anyways, figured I would share. POTA on and I will catch you on the air!
