Coptic Orthodox Orban (Korban) Seal / Stamp

This is a seal (aka stamp) in the style of the Coptic Orthodox Church to be used for making Orban, which is the offertory bread that is offered in the Divine Liturgy.

I was asked by my parish to create this design to supplement our Church's current supply of seals. This particular design references older Coptic Orban seal designs as shown in the attached images, and it specifically uses the Greek translation of the Thrice Holy Hymn Ⲁ̀ⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲟ̀ Ⲑⲉⲟⲥ: ⲁ̀ⲅⲓⲟⲥ Ⲓⲥⲭⲩⲣⲟⲥ: ⲁ̀ⲅⲓⲟⲥ Ⲁ̀ⲑⲁⲛⲁⲧⲟⲥ (translated: Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal), but in the Coptic lettering. This choice was made such that it matches the language we sing the hymn in liturgically.

To use this for making Orban, be sure to print it from plain materials such as PLA or PETG, and avoid any fiber-filled materials (i.e. GF, CF or wood-filled) as this would contaminate the Orban. Ensure it is clean, washed and dried thoroughly prior to use.

I generally find that it does not stick to the dough, but if you experience sticking then a light dusting of flour on the seal and the dough helps a lot.

This design can be resized to suit various needs. The handle specifically can be resized in the Z direction while keeping the seal itself the same size, if you wish to have a smaller or more compact handle.

To attach the handle to the seal, there is a small circular marking on the back of the seal that can be used to align the handle. Use a high strength super glue or epoxy to attach the handle to the seal, and clamp it for a few hours to set.
