Did you print in TPU? 
Is your speaker the JBL GO 2 model?

Indeed, the model is made for flexible TPU and will not work with PLA. Sorry for your bad experience! 

Unfortunately I think it will be too stiff and break. I didn't try with petg but PLA didn't work. 
It is designed for TPU 95A. 
If you try however I'd be happy to have your feedback!
