Description

I replaced the hotend on my Ender 3 Neo with that of the Ender 3V2 as it was the only one available at the time and the specs seemed to match. However, the Ender 3V2 hotend is slightly shorter than the original Ender 3 Neo, meaning I needed to add a bracket to lower it and, subsequently, a modified blower duct )to account for the vertical offset position created by the bracket) and a hotend cover with a little more depth so that the hotend doesn't press against the heat sink fan. These three prints solved the issue and the machine functions perfectly again.

Note that after doing a bed level calibration, you'll likely still need to adjust the Z offset in your printer's configuration. I started a standard bed level test print and increased the offset by close to 1.5mm while it was printing before it eventually began producing a flawless bead).

  • Filament: ABS or other high-heat durable filament
  • Supports: Not needed for the bracket or for the hotend cover.
For the blower, tree supports will work fine but orientate the duct on its back so that the screwholes are against the bed. That will mean supports are only used on the wider end of the duct, making them easier to remove
  • Print time: 8 minutes for the bracket, 18 minutes for the duct, 1h45 for the hotend cover
  • Layer height: 0.2mm
