This Asian hornet trap offers an effective and ecological solution to protect bees, without using chemicals. Ideal for individuals and beekeepers, this trap is easily adaptable to a Bonne Maman jam jar.

I printed the trap in PETG because my first PLA traps only lasted one season in UV.

This profile is support-free, with 15% infill, no brim, using a 0.24mm draft system preset and a 0.4mm nozzle.

I invite you to follow these few trapping tips, or to download the user manual.

A special mixture
•    Mix 1/3 beer, 1/3 white wine, and 1/3 syrup (blackcurrant or grenadine, the red color attracts hornets); you can use wood straw so that (rare) bees can escape the liquid. One advantage of this wine and beer mixture is that it creates an alcoholic liquid that repels bees, which prevents them from being trapped too. Place the trap high up (~1.5 m – 2m), for example in a tree away from frequented areas (terrace, house entrance, children's playground…). If you are not catching Asian hornets, move it because it is not in a common thoroughfare.
•    Do not wash the trap! When a hornet is trapped, it releases pheromones that will attract other hornets. It is even advisable to leave dead hornets.
•    The attractant should be renewed approximately every 10 days but must take weather conditions into account. If bad weather is forecast, it is better to wait until the weather becomes favorable again before putting in fresh bait otherwise it will deteriorate and become less attractive when good weather returns.

If you have any suggestions or comments. I will read them with pleasure.
