Description

The season has started! I wanted to try casting my own softbaits and so I did some tests.

The result is this silicone mold to obtain a 130mm Fluke.
In the body of the bait there is space for a Texas rig hook, but you can use a jighead, dropshot or simply jerk it weightless.
Note: I used Pla and cold two-component silicone without problems of demoulding. The results may change in relation to the type of rubber used. Make some test!

can someone tell me if I can just cut up my old bait and melt them and put them in this mold without adding any other ingredients?

you can try. perhabs you have to use wd40 or such to prevent the silicone to stick. and of course you shound use a heat resistant filament (petg maybe)

are you just pouring into the sprue or are you injecting?

It depends on how thick is your silicone, in my case i just slowly pour in it. You can inject if you please

injecting sometimes gives you a more desirable look, but pouring makes it so u can do multiple colors in on mold without cutting up other baits

It melted when I poured the plastisol in.

I don’t think the basic rules of thermodynamics are a parameter for judging a print profile. Did you read the description first?

What kind of pigments are you using? I could not find any for silicone.

what type of silicone? I haven't heard of doing this with a cold product.

look for a two-component, cold catalysis mould silicone. Best if clear type so you can add any pigments and sparkle you like. Try with the cheapest you can find!

printed great! used 2 part silicone without an injector. I just poured the 2 part mix into the mold very slowly and tapped the mold hard with my finger until all the air bubbles came up
