rubbing some wax on the cylinders can help to reduce friction.
drop the bottom cylinder into the body make sure the side with the bigger square holder is down.
next grab the big/ top cylinder and slide it down all the way on to the shaft, until it reaches the twisted part.
the position the gears on top of the small cylinder in the body. make sure the holes line up. Using the key can help to move it into the right spot. next while keeping the gear in that position slide the shaft with the big cylinder down the the hole at the top of the body/frame. make sure the square end part of the shaft goes through the holder of the gear, and the cylinder below the gear. it might take some pressure to do so. the shaft is pushed all the way in when the top of the big cylinder is almost flush with the frame. next put the key in against the gear and put the blade on and pull. if it does not work insert the key from the other side.
