Description

After a few days of designing, thinking about it and printing a few samples, the time has finally come.

Let me introduce you to the push on led bar for the A1!

The LED bar is printed in a total of four parts, the housing and the reflector each consist of two parts. The housing is glued together after printing, the reflector is optional and only necessary if the housing is printed in a dark color.

In addition, the reflector also reinforces the housing when glued together. I recommend using the reflector.

I printed the housing with grey sunlu pla matte and the reflector with white sunlu pla matte.

Before gluing together, it is important to check the edges of the parts to be glued, some sanding may be necessary here so that there are no gaps at the gluing point.

For gluing i recommend this glue https://amzn.to/3S6gwje (affiliate link), but you can also use super glue. Don´t use too much glue, especially try to not let the glue coming out at the outside of the housing.

After gluing together, all you have to do is glue the LED strip in, any LED strip can be used here, I have linked an example here.

5v USB Strip

Please only mount it the direction shown in the pictures, if mounted with the LED to the front side it could crash with the printing head.

Please let me know if you have suggestions for improvement, happy printing :-)

Great idea. I like how it looks like it is a stock part of the machine. The only drawback is that it does not let you clamp the single filament reel holder to the top cross rail. Have you thought of making one with a gap that allows that possibility?

Thank you, it was my goal to make it look like an original part, glad that it works for you. I don‘t have anything mounted on the top, but you could find a spool holder desk stand and wall mount in my uploads, maybe this is a solution for you?

Good print. Glue up joint is not perfect. Print is not perfectly flat at joints. Close enough and gets the job done. I used a COB LED light from Amazon that has the perfect length and has a connector to plug into the second power port on A1. Runs around $12. Even posted review with the bad light bar there. For anyone new making this. I found it best to use tape across what will be the top (side that was on print bed). Put tape across joint after making sure its a perfectly flat joint. Using the tape as a hinge. Bend the joint like opening a door. Glue edges (I used Gorilla Super Glue Gel). Bend back so joint touches and hold till set. After an hour you can remove tape. I used Aluminum Foil Tape (used for duct seams, real "DUCT" tape). So I left it and applied a second layer to protect hinge so PTFE tubes do not rub on glued joint that is a touch rough. Also used foil tape in light side instead of printing deflector. All in all, this is a far better option than many other light bar options. This print has no brackets for the AMS PTFE tubes to get stuck on. Another highly rated print does, and it messed up a print and I ended up here.

I've added another logo, and I'll shorten the bracket a bit more, as I want to attach a camera mount in the middle of the top rail. Pictures to follow. Gluing the diffusers is a suboptimal solution; tapping them in would be nicer, but maybe there will be an update/remix sometime. Unfortunately, I'm a noob at designing, otherwise I'd try that myself. Great work, a nice addition to a truly great printer. Thanks and regards

Thank you for printing and your detailed feedback The reflectors are glued in because they also help hold the housing parts together. During my test prints, I noticed that with thin wall thicknesses, force should be avoided, as the walls on the open side would break when tapped in I will consider designing a reinforced version that might no longer need to be glued

Awesome... Thanks. Only one suggestion (and not even sure how you would do it) is there a way to increase the glueable surface. Really struggled gluing this together.

Thank you for printing and rating. I had no problems to glue it together, maybe use less glue? Which glue did you use? I like the uhu allplast glue because it sticks instantly but is movable for a minute or two. I will think about increasing the gluable surface, but I think it would make the top thicker.

This is awesome! Printed in Bambu PLA Basic Light Gray to match the printer colours. I also designed a bracket to hide the seam and add more glue surface area. Uploaded it as a print profile on your design!
