Description

I've backpacked in the incredible Three  Sisters Wilderness several times and thought it would be nice to have this topo map of the area.

The Three Sisters in Oregon are a trio of volcanic peaks, part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, each exceeding 10,000 feet in elevation, located in the Three Sisters Wilderness, and known for their beauty and popularity among climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.

  • The Three Sisters are located in the Three Sisters Wilderness, a vast area in the Cascade Range of Central Oregon, about 25 miles west of Bend and 10 miles south of the town of Sisters.

  • The three peaks are North Sister (10,090 ft), Middle Sister (10,052 ft), and South Sister (10,363 ft).

  • They are volcanic peaks, part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a chain of volcanoes stretching from British Columbia to northern California.

  • Pioneers reportedly named them Faith (North Sister), Hope (Middle Sister), and Charity (South Sister).

  • The area is popular for hiking, backpacking, climbing, and camping, with numerous trails and scenic views.

  • The Three Sisters Wilderness is a designated wilderness area, offering a rugged and remote experience.

  • The area supports diverse flora and fauna, including forests of Douglas-fir, silver fir, and ponderosa pine, as well as alpine meadows, and various wildlife.

  • The area is known for its glaciers, with Collier Glacier being the largest in Oregon.

  • Other notable features include lava fields, waterfalls, and glacial lakes.
