Description

Anti-shock Landing Gear with amortization based on the cheapest wheels available on the market (linked below)

I've made it with two parts: mount and landing gear.

This is because it will be easier to replace after a crash or break.

No support and no glue are required! But You need springs. Can be standard pencil springs (1 or 2 per wheel, depending on plane weight)

The optimal outer diameter is 4mm and should be longer than 30mm.

Fit for most models around 80-140cm, just choose the angle that You like
Wingspan on my model is 100cm

Safe plane weight is lower than 750g. I tried to use those wheels also with a 900~1000g model, but only printed parts survived dynamic landing on a meadow ;)

Printing tips

The locking rod is extra small and designed for 0.2mm nozzle to keep maximum durability

But no worry if You have 0.4mm nozzle, it's ok. Just print only the rod. Should not slip out. Optionally, You can slightly increase X and Y diameter (like ~5%)

Edit history

May 2025
• fix for 10 and 15-degree v2 models

• added 0 and 5-degree v2 models

Apr 2025

New element added: locking rod

You can use 2mm screw but nut may be to big, so I added rod model in two version:

• rod_a, which requires a single cap on the one end

• rod_simple, which requires two caps on both ends

earlier
I also made a 3rd version of this model with a different mount part, and I also attached it here

My first model with no amortization is here:

Materials

Printed with PLA-CF, 1 single wall is strong enough !!

Also made with PCTG but needs more walls to be strong enough
