Description

V2 IS NOW LIVE, CHECK WHAT PROFILE YOU PRINT. V2 HAS A FEW CHANGES, LARGER OD SLIGHTLY THICKER BASE, AND THE HEX BIT SITS .1IN DEEPER INTO THE MAIN BODY

I have seen quite a few of these tools, and so far, none of them have worked the way I wanted. Either the backing was too small, or the ¼ impact bit wouldn't fit into the tool properly.

I took all the things I had learned from trying to print other models and fixed them in mine. The adaptor fits nicely and snugly into the impact and locks in as it should. It also fits snugly into the winder, so glue isn't necessary for it to stay together.

The ¼ Impact adaptor is replaceable and only takes 11 minutes to print on an A1 mini

I also added groves into it to make removing the strap after you wind it up easier

The backing is just the right size and it doesn't take a lot of material to print

PLA Works fine for this, it is plenty strong with the way I have my profile setup

PETG would be better long term but if you don't have any available PLA works great

Please boost this model if you like it

If you have any suggestions on ways to improve this design or want one for the bigger 2 in straps just comment and I can make that happen.

Disclaimer: Please de-bur the impact adaptor before attempting to insert  your driver, the burr on the bottom could cause it to get stuck and break off if not removed, once removed this is not an issue (Image below shows what to deburr)

it works well, thanks for your hard work! I printed with PETG-HF and added some snarky burner text. i’d suggest two potential improvements: - longer straps will end up with a larger diameter than the main body. i’d like a slightly larger diameter - the hex bit sometimes falls off when removing the straps. it would be nice to have it all as one piece, but then you’d need supports so i’m not sure how to make that happen. i guess i can superglue it in

I can make another version with a larger OD but the hex bit will need to stay a separate piece, an alteration that I could do to help with the bit falling out is make it so it goes farther into the main body. thank you for the comment and keep an eye out for a v2!!!!

Thanks, I appreciate the design effort. Used PETG for the big V2 part and PETG-CF for the hex adapter. The socket for the adapter is not deep enough, to withstand the torque of rewinding 15' straps...I use a lot of those when traveling with my kayak. Once wound, the strap is difficult to slide off because of the layer line friction. Turns out I can wind them by hand faster.

prints perfectly! device works as intended! I love how snugly the drive portion of the print fits into the device, no glue needed!

The strap slot is too narrow, making it difficult to remove the coiled strap from the winder. Some minor surgery was required to make it more usable ( made the strap gap much wider.
