Description

Backstory:

While dismantling an old laptop to properly destroy the data left on it, I decided to fully dismantle the SSHD to see how it looks from the inside.
Inspired by its precision and shine, I designed this spinning top to give it a second life. Now it lives on my desk, spinning away as both a conversation piece and a tribute to the hidden beauty of everyday tech.

This spinner is balanced quite well and can easily spin for more than a minute.

Printing Instructions:

This print is quite delicate and should therefore be printed with a 0.2mm nozzle and the smallest line width profile you are comfortable with. 0.4mm might still work but won't look as clean. Top, Bottom and Solid Infill should be printed in concentric mode and with 100% infill.

The spinner is made of the top, bottom and a connecting pin to make all of the parts fit, when supergluing the parts together. The platter is currently also superglued to the top, after sliding it on.

This process is not perfect and i completely stained the bottom of the platter with glue in the process. I might change the model in the future to secure the platter non-permanently and without this much of a hassle. But for now I don't have another platter and even though the process wasn't perfect, it worked for me.
